We are all a part of ‘God’s’ creation. In order to be a part of it, we must be connected with the creative force that not only determines the “structure” of existence but what is going to happen in that existence. Because you exist in this creation you are as such composed of those things which determine the nature of it. The problem is that you simply have not been trained to be aware of these greater forms. Either this or perhaps you are just simply not ready to make the step into this greater awareness. What ever the case whether you are aware of it or not every living thing is in touch with or has the faculties to perceive the greater scope of how the future is created.
Perhaps the most universal experience with regard to having a vision of the future is Deja Vu. A person may feel as though they are experiencing something they have done before, because, they have already 'seen' this event in a previous vision. And, these visions could have come to you years before the experience. It is simply, that most people have not been trained to remember their visions. Instead they generally pass them off as an aberration of the sleep state and thus these “dreams” don’t have any significance in real life.
In the eastern teachings it is said that the dream state is the reality and the physical form is the dream. If you should attain to achieving the ability to “see” how the Maya is being manipulated you will come to understand why the Sages say to pay more attention to your dreams than to your physical condition. If you will make the suggestion to yourself before you go to sleep that you want to remember your dreams, eventually this should happen. If you will pay attention to those dreams that are the most vivid and realistic, you might be able to remember one of your visions of a future event.

Divine Power
Edgar Cayce, Reading 3976-8 1/15/32
11. Man’s answer to everything has been POWER - power of money, Power of position, Power of wealth, Power of this, that or the other. This has NEVER been GOD’S way, will never be God’s way. Rather little by little, line upon line, here a little, there a little, each thinking rather of the other fellow ...
The fact is that in order to exist in the physical form a certain amount of “power” is required. Be this physical, mental and spiritual. Obviously, everyone is using this kind of power to some degree or other all of the time. But, what Cayce is talking about and what developing power through meditation is about is something different. The key to this kind of power lay in the fact that you will not be allowed to destroy God’s creation and there is a distinct possibility that you might do this if you have not developed the capacity to use the “higher power” responsibly.
The catch 22 of using this kind of power is that you will only be allowed to use it if you are doing so for the betterment of the Creation. If you attempt to use it solely for personal gain it will not be allowed. Anything you do which is for personal gain where the use of power is involved would be called “personal power”. Some people including many spiritual leaders have developed a substantial amount of personal power. The only problem with using personal power is that it has karmic consequences.
Karmic consequences is in effect the greater nature of using any kind of energy in the lower worlds which inevitably follows the law of physics; by which for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. On a personal level, if you initiate any kind of energy towards anything or anyone, there will be an equal and opposite response which can come in some uncomfortable forms. In the use of the “higher powers” they are used in response to this law and not initiated. Thus, there are no consequences.
In addition, to know the power of the Father for instance you must merge with the Father. Since His power is so much greater than yours you cannot attain to it without being in complicity with it. What his means is that you have to give up any personal notions about how things are supposed to be or what is the right or wrong thing to do. This state can be difficult to but it should also be quite obvious that His Wisdom is very much greater than yours. And whatever it is That shall be done by His Will, it will always be way beyond anything you could ever come up with.
Thus, another aspect of meditation is to reach a state and be able to summon a state whereby you are totally clear of all thought, fear, and conceptions about what reality is supposed to be like, what God is supposed to be like, or what is needed in this world.

The Ego and God
In the beginning, if you should come in contact with any greater soul who is in union with the Divine the ego will immediately begin to protect itself. A number of interesting things will happen. You will not be able to ask this person any of the questions about the Divine that have been burning within you. You will find yourself attempting to manipulate them in a manner that you know to be misguided but you have nothing else to draw on. You will find that you can never gain the upper hand on this individual regardless of what you might attempt to do. All of what you believe to be wise revelations on your part will amount to nothing before them.
We are living in a culture where we want everything right now. And this is the way the ego approaches the divine as well. Our egos think we can handle it. The ego will always say that it is not afraid but, the ego is basically suicidal before God. This is the inevitable result of the ego discovering that it can not compete with God. Thus, it comes to the conclusion that the ego must be vanquished in order to perceive God. So, you become faced with the ridiculous situation of the ego trying to vanquish itself. Besides the fact that this is impossible, the ultimate conclusion of the ego to deal with this problem is self sacrifice, which is an aspect of martyrdom, which in effect is suicide. Of course in the end this is not what it is all about.
The ego is primarily interested in serving itself. It will want the Wisdom for its own sake. It will want to use the powers for its own benefit. It believes that the Higher Knowledge is owed to it. It believes that it is the duty of all of those in the service of the Father to save them. It believes that anger is power. It believes that you must fear God even though it will claim that it is not afraid. It believes it knows the only way to heaven. It will rationalize everything to its own advantage. And yet, as long as we are here in the body we cannot do without this thing we have come to call the ego.
So, how do we deal with this thing? For those who are younger in the spiritual sense, and this has nothing to do with age, position, wealth or any other social measure, without the ego they probably would not survive in the physical. So, for them it is a necessary evil. For those who are more mature as souls, whereby these people have a higher purpose to fulfill on Earth, they must come to the point of teaching the ego how to be of service. The ego is supposed to serve the Angel, it is not supposed to be the other way around.
The first step in this process is simply to become aware of which part of you is the ego and which part is the Angel. This is what the disciplines are all about. Discipline is a derivative of discipleship, thus, if your Self cannot discipline your self then it is a good idea to find a Wiser person to “serve.” The disciplines generally used to control the ego are; silent repetitions, vows of silence, fasting, or any vow you make and hold to no matter what, sitting in meditation, breath control, not doing, etc.
The idea of all of these disciplines is to try to control at least some if not all of those things which compel you to act and are motivated by the ego. If you can do this while “watching” from the “center” you will be able to discern which of those things that compel you to move are coming from the ego or the soul. You should be able to find this “center” during your meditations. The intention is never really to eliminate ego, just learn how to manage it in a way that it serves the body and the Angel. But, also know that this is a never ending battle between the Self and the self.

About Love
LOVE has nothing to do with hanging on or controlling anyone or anything. This is not the selflessness of true LOVE but the selfishness of possession.
LOVE has nothing do to with abuse or stifling. This is about power and/or martyrdom.
LOVE knows no fools, it only it is only foolish not to want to know it.
LOVE has no expectations it is always given freely.
LOVE may not appear to be macho, but it is never a weakness.
LOVE will always heal you and lift you up because it is the force of the Creation.
Always give the highest form of LOVE you can conceive of.
LOVE is not about competition it is about the desire to find it within your Self.
Never be the one who tries to LOVE the most. You will always win, and you will always
be disappointed.
LOVE is an essence within itself. Be That Essence and don’t worry about the effects of it.
LOVE yourself first. If you cannot LOVE yourself, you will never allow anyone else to
Love you either.
Seek to LOVE Yourself as God LOVES You.
LOVE is our connection to where we came from.
Never look outwards to find LOVE. It isn't there.
LOVE and fear don’t mix very well.
LOVE is not the freedom to do anything you want, but your guide to the things you are meant to do.
LOVE is hard to sustain in this world there are so many around you who need it.
LOVE has nothing to do with anger, frustration, deprivation, depression or any other type of debilitating mental state of being. It is the cure for these afflictions.
LOVE cannot be taught, but you can show someone what its like.
LOVE has nothing to do with emotions. In fact, it is the only force which can heal you
from emotional sorrows.
If you should feel threatened, run to LOVE first.
LOVE is a fire which burns in the heart. It must be stoked constantly to protect you from those other things that are called love but really are not.

Discipleship
Early, on in my spiritual quest I read the Bible completely through. Two things became apparent to me. One was that the message of Jesus was being twisted in some perverted way and that He obviously passed on a greater Wisdom to His Apostles than to the general public. What I wanted was what He gave to the Apostles not the run of the mill stuff preached in the church. I also concluded that In order to learn these lessons I would probably need to experience discipleship. So, I sought out teachers who could demonstrate things that were comparable to what Jesus did and strove to learn what discipleship was from them.
I soon found out that our culture has no foundation for what discipleship really is. It is not and never was a part of our spiritual system. This is one of the main reasons I went to India was to live in a place where this tradition still exists and is the accepted way to learn the nature of the divine and found those teachers who knew how to do it properly.
There are several things that are basic to achieving a meaningful relationship with the divine that are part of what discipleship is all about. One of these is about how to receive and give the “gifts.” I have come to call the Wisdom and the Power of the higher teachings as “gifts,” because in essence that is what they are. They are transferred or given to the student by the teacher at the appropriate time whereby he is capable of appreciating them. And they are like the more precious “gifts” anyone could ever give to another.
Although you might think that the act of giving and receiving is so very simple and basic you would be quite surprised as to the difference between how these acts are done in the common world and how they are done in the True spiritual context. There is also the need to be able to submit to the teacher through learning “Service” in order for you to even allow him to "give" the gifts. But, the teacher in the Wisdom is very careful that you come to “understanding” without losing your own integrity. The key to achieving this is to come to the realization that you are a "Child" of God. You Angel is this "Child" and you have to come to an "Awareness" of this Child within you.
In addition, the True Teachers of the Wisdom are very careful not to allow you to become dependent on them. There is a very delicate balance of trying to show someone how to attain to a state of "Service" while also moving them to a place where they are in the "Service" of the Father and the Mother. Only then will you come to know the true nature of our "reality" and your true place in this amazing universe.
If the “gifts” are given without this kind of training it is like giving a very expensive and complicated toy to a very young child. The challenge for them is getting the toy out of the box. If this is allowed, they will wave it around and play with it in a way that has nothing to do with its functionality. After a few moments they will grow tired of it and start to play with the box it came in. They will have absolutely no appreciation for what the toy can do nor any idea of how to give it to another. In the spiritual context they will not even be consciously aware they have the toy. They will try to show the teacher that they know all about it but only he can appreciate that they even have it.
The net result is that attempting to give these most precious “gifts” to one who is untrained with no discipline is a complete waste of time.

The Powers
Whether you choose to acknowledge or not, the spiritual journey as I have taken it inherently involves learning about personal and divine power. In fact certain powers must be mastered before moving to a higher level. Although the use of power usually has negative connotations and is usually associated with the dark side of things, it is also a part of the Light as well.
Also, oddly enough everyone is using many of these powers all of the time. They simply reject the notion that they are doing it. This is mostly the result of conditioning and fear. It is far better in fact if you are consciously aware of the fact that you are using these powers. At least this way you some chance of controlling them and thus, not creating bad Karma.
Although most of these powers become available in specific situations you can “ask for them,” facilitate the use of them, or become aware of them through meditation.
The Personal Powers
See the future
Read Minds
Put your awareness in another body
Sustain the body without food water or air
Move beyond physical sensations
"See" anything, anyone, anywhere at anytime
Change your size or appearance
Modify Maya to your personal needs
Overcome the cycle of rebirth
Reanimate the dead
Modify a physical form to another form
Become invisible
Manifest physical objects from the ether
Speak and hear in Tongues (this is probably not what you think it is)
Levitate
Heal any disease
Direct "rays" of energy"
See" all of the worlds that exist at different vibration levels.
Translocation - project yourself anywhere or in multiple places at the same time.
Astral Travel
The Higher Powers
There are three levels of this kind of power that I am aware of. This kind of power however cannot be described in the context of words. So, I will offer a couple of stories that you might be able to use to get the jest of it.
Knowledge
If you use the personal powers for the sake of knowledge instead of for the sake of power you will gain a certain knowledge of existence which is symbolized in the Hindu stories as the escapades of Hanuman.
Power over Nature
At some point after mastering the powers and the Knowledge you will be approached by the Lord of Nature. Shiva in the Hindu context, Satan in the Christian context. And He will offer you His Bow. If you are able to string the bow He will give you dominion over His domain which includes that of all of the elements, Wind, Earth, Water and Fire as well as all of the elementals nature spirits, and basically all forms of elemental life on the planet. If you should be able to string the bow you would be invincible on this planet. In Hindu lore only Rama could string the bow and He became the Messiah of the last age. In this age there were kings who were also considered as gods. This was the case for Rama.In order to string this bow you have to sacrifice something. It is something most priests, Shamans, Yogis, are not whiling to sacrifice.
Power over Heaven
When Krishna was young, Shiva came to him and presented his bow. Krishna took it, tried to string it and broke it. When Shiva asked Him why he did that, Krishna responded "because this is my destiny". Essentially, this happened to Jesus as well. Satan offered his bow to Him and Jesus just refused it. He didn't need it. God had created these beings to be the beginning of a new generation that would transcend the elemental world. I will leave to you consider how the power over heaven manifests on Earth and what is possible if you can do this.

Ecstasy
The commonly accepted definition of a ‘vision’, would probably involve one, or more individuals ‘seeing’ a divine being, who would impart some spiritual wisdom, a healing, and/or show them ‘images’ of a future event. This being, may also speak through a person, in order to convey a message to others. Such ‘visions’ of the Mother Mary, are associated with several of the prophecies I have included in this writing.
In virtually all of these cases, the person receiving the vision is in an altered state of consciousness. They could not be awakened from this state, by any means that would awaken someone from normal sleep, or hypnosis. Their eyes are open, they appear to be awake, but they are talking to someone who is unseen by those around them. Brain wave analysis has shown them to be in a deep sleep dream state. In religious terms, this state is called ecstasy
In my own experience with this condition, there can be awareness of what is called, an out of body experience. It is as if, the being you are in the presence of, is so powerful, they are able to bring you to their level, overriding your normal state of existence. In my case, I experienced this state in the presence of Jesus, Mary and the Father.

Dreams
If you should come to be able to stand back from the ‘normal’ functioning of humanity, you will find that dreams are actually conveyed by interactions with others. Parents will transfer their dreams to their children. The alien abduction experience for instance, has been found to be passed down in this way. Diseases and habits will also be passed in the same way. Although science may say this is a process of genetics, on a higher level, much more is involved.
In that form, dreams and visions are just another form of communication. The difference between those experiences given by ‘higher’ souls and those of family, or associates, would be similar to the distinction between a class given by a college professor and a nursery school teacher. As you become closer to those greater souls who are connected with the ‘source’, so too you will come to know that ‘source’. It is an inherent part of this connection to receive information about the future, in the form of dreams, or visions.
Because we are constantly being ‘hit’, by the people around us, we need to be able to discern the casual transfers, from what is being given to us by the higher sources. Most of our daily contacts result in what I would call the reception of emotional drivel. The majority of people have no idea they are doing. It is kind of like children who cry, throw tantrums and throw things around to get attention. Children need to do these things in order to sustain themselves, by keeping the attention of their parents. In addition to these physical actions some people will ‘hit’ you physically as well. The transfers on this level are usually both physically and spiritually debilitating.
The two individuals I will most often be quoting, Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce, obtained most of their insights though their own personal connection with the higher sources. By their own capacities they were able to transcend the ‘blind’ confusion, most people are subject to. At this point, one comes to realize that getting the attention of those around you is a fleeting, if not useless endeavor.
The attention you really want is from the higher souls. Most specifically, that of the Father in whatever form He may be to you. As you reach out to this source, through the exercise of your own will to do so, the answers will come. In the beginning, the experiences can be a bit overwhelming, because of the higher energy level of those souls. But, if you stay with it, you should eventually become used to dealing with this state of awareness.
With persistence, you will come to know, that we are all connected to the source, in one degree or another. Our main barrier to being consciously aware of this is simply fear. We have been conditioned to believe, it is beyond our capability to do so, or, such efforts will result in loosing our minds, tempting fate, flirting with Satan, or the like. The worst possible belief is; I am not worthy to know. For whatever reason this barrier has been established, it is one which everyone at some point must cross - even if they should have to do so at the time of death.
While I encourage everyone to seek this higher realization, I will also be the first to say, that it is not an easy process. Indeed, there are times, when you feel as if you are losing your mind and in a certain sense you are. The mind does not have the capacity to absorb the greater capacities of the soul, even though it will try to do so. You have to let go of the mental process in order to move up. More appropriate perhaps, would be to say, you have to recognize the mind for its limitations. Although this sounds easy, it is not.
This is why the assistance of a teacher can be very helpful - someone to watch over you and guide you in the transition from an awareness of your reality through the mind and the senses, to one of the soul. In essence, this is a process of 'opening'. At first, you come to believe that every mystical experience is being created by them. In fact, in most cases, these experiences are conveyed to you, by your own imagines and emulations by the ego. The process of overcoming this with a teacher involves this person focusing on your higher nature in a way that will “move” you to that form.
Many times my teachers would make it a point to tell me which of my experiences he was giving and what was coming from my higher Self or my ego. He would also point out, that everyone goes through this process in a different manner based on capacity and experience. Not everyone can be a great prophet. Not every prophet will be a great healer. So it is with everyone, both in the mystical sense and in the physical world.
For those who may be starting their own quest into this realm, a good place to begin, is by digging more deeply into the dream state. Most of us pay little attention to our dreams, unless they become very emotionally charged. Even then, most dreams are taken as a minor annoyance, rather than something meaningful.
Researchers have found, that everyone, has at least a moment or two, in a state where if awakened, they will remember dreaming about something. I believe the scientists are correct in assessing, that most dreams are a way for a person to release certain fears, anxieties, or desires in a relatively harmless manner. Along with these primal dreams however, there are a number of other types of dreams.
If you are going to take your quest seriously, it is a good idea to write down your dreams as soon as you wake up. As you are going to sleep, make a suggestion to your subconscious that you want to remember your dreams. I would also tell myself, what I would like to dream about. Or, I would like the answer to a question about something.
When remembering the dream, the first thing one should pay attention to, is the color of the images in a dream as this will give an indication of the source of the inspiration. The level of color in the pictures you see will correspond to the frequency level of where the dream came from. Colors can vary from grays and blacks all the way to colors which look like an electrified neon. Dreams in black, and white, or gray shades are usually generated by lower energy levels i.e. fear, desire, sex, anger, frustration, and the like. These dreams are coming from the first Chakra level and probably involve a venting of a fear or an anxiety. Dreams in vivid color usually come from a higher frequency and will relay an aspect of wisdom, a future event, or the spiritual nature of a person around you.
I would also suggest that you try to 'watch' yourself go to sleep and waking up. Try to become conscious of knowing when you are asleep. This seems to be contradictory because normally one would consider sleep to be a state were there is no conscious awareness. On the other hand, if you consider sleep to be simply a bodily function and not necessarily one of the mind or, certainly not a function of the soul, then the idea of watching yourself in this state is not so impossible.
If you can master this ability then look for a point where you are just above the deepest level of sleep. This is state is kind of difficult to describe, but hopefully, you will notice a point, where at first, you would see a flash of color as you pass through it. Or, you might hear something like 60 radio stations, all playing at one time. If you can tune into this point you will find it is here where the body is serving as an antennae for the soul. The colors are of the energy forces around us and the radio stations are the thoughts of those we are connected to.
This level is where you will ‘see’ what you might call our ‘true’ reality – a place which is like a TV station, transmitting, and receiving, thoughts, and visions. Most of us have been trained from birth to focus on the very limited capacity of our minds and bodies. Because of this, we are tuned into those channels which support this type of thinking. To get beyond this, we must learn how to ‘tune’ into the stations (sources), which transmit the type of energy designed for higher purposes.
This is why most spiritual practices are aimed at changing ones attention away from the lower based, physical, mental and emotional responses. If one is successful at doing this, then your dreams will be of a more meaningful nature. In the ‘higher’ sense, dreams are the reality, and the physical form is the dream. If you are in tune with the creative forces behind the flow into the physical, then this can be so. If not, then your dreams are mostly an extension of your everyday emotional frustrations.

Different Levels
Although I regard the ecstasy experience, as one of the 'highest' forms of visions, I also think, there are infinite levels, or degrees of intensity to this kind of phenomena. For instance, even though the classic form of vision may include information about a future event, not all prophecies have been relayed, with a vision of a divine being. The two best known modern prophets, Edgar Cayce and Nostradamus, did not mention ‘seeing’ Jesus, Mary, or any other well known deity during their connections with the ‘source’.
Although Mr. Cayce was in a trance during all of his readings, he also had dreams of future events, and other experiences he would call visions. In some cases, he was able to expand on his readings while fully conscious. I believe Nostradamus was probably fully conscious during all of his prophetic divinings. Yet both of these prophets, either ‘saw’ the future, or connected with those beings who had the power to convey it.
My point here is; that there are many different forms to the prophetic experience. Just as we are each a unique aspect of this creation, so each of us have own capabilities. Therefore, how a prophecy is received, has little to do with its validity. Taking this to its broadest context, if everything which exists, incorporates a divine source (God), then everything we perceive, on all levels, and is a form of 'vision'. The only thing required is the ability to see it in that way.

Apparitions
When a spirit entity is seen in a vision, it is called an apparition. The most widely known apparitions are those of the Mother Mary or Jesus. Although no one else can see it, the visionary will perceive these beings as if they were standing before him or her in the real world. They can hear and speak to the entity in the same manner as they would speak to any individual; at least it feels that way to the visionary.
When watching a visionary communicating with an apparition, you might see their lips move, but the words may not be audible or make any sense. The person receiving the vision is in an altered state. They cannot be shaken from this condition, as you would awaken someone from a deep sleep. Their eyes are open, they appear to be awake but, brain wave analysis shows them to be in a deep sleep dream condition.
All valid visions are usually received in what the eastern teachings call an out-of-body state. In this condition, a soul can elect to stay in the body or leave it. In either case, there is an awareness of the physical body, but all actions and interactions are conducted on the level of the soul. It could be described as a time when heaven and Earth merge. The presence of a powerful entity such as Mary or Jesus can shift the visionary to a higher level. Miraculous circumstances can occur at these times, as the entity is capable of altering physical reality.
In all visions, a tremendous amount of information is relayed in a short period of time. Soul-to-soul communications are like being plugged directly into a mainframe computer. There are no transfer mediums, like words, to interpret; there are no mental evaluations and no ego filtering. In the case of apparitions, the visionary usually retains a complete memory of what has happened. Confusion sets in when the mind attempts to figure out the meaning of the vision.
In lieu of communicating with the divine by means of a vision, some prophets allow an entity to take over their body and speak through it. Edgar Cayce would go into a trance state before giving his readings. He claimed that he was totally unaware of what happened during the session. He may have been away from his physical form while another entity possessed his body. If so, he would not remember what happened.
Perhaps, he did not want to remember the experience because, in some cases, the message was contrary to the more traditional beliefs of the period. He could disassociate himself from conflicting information by claiming that he had no knowledge of what was said. Throughout his life, Cayce had more traditional vision experiences as well. Several times, he saw angels. He also had a number of prophetic dreams. His trances provided a non-threatening means of helping people without becoming a Christ-like figure. All along, the real power was coming from within himself.
The content of a true vision is inherently about healing, or an insight into the nature of divine interactions with the physical world. This is so because visions are inspired by the source of creation. Eastern mystics who have mastered the “vision” experience are known as “seers.” They develop the ability to open the third eye, which is the eye of the soul. The eye is opened when a person ceases to identify with the body and shifts to the awareness of the soul. The ability to manipulate this awareness involves the mastery of the Kundalini.
Children are much more open to the vision experience than adults. They are not anchored by the fear of the unknown in the way adults come to be programmed. Over time, the mind defines a reality that becomes familiar ground. The mind is limited. To get past it to the truth can be difficult. The presence of a teacher in this process can be comforting, but in the end, everyone has their own connection with the ultimate source of existence.
The universe is a function of attractions and repulsions vibrating over an infinite frequency range. Each level of vibration exists in its own timeline. To see the future is a matter of training oneself to “see” what is happening at these different frequencies. This is what mastering the Kundalini all is about. Nostradamus must have been fully conscious during all of his prophetic experiences. He could “see” at these higher frequency levels.
There are a number of stories about his spontaneous predictions. Once, as he was riding in his carriage through the countryside, he had the driver stop at the side of the road. He got out and walked over to a man working in a field. Nostradamus knelt before him and said, “Bless me your eminence.” The field hand later became pope.
Nostradamus was obviously in touch with the “source” every moment. He listened to his intuitions. The summoning a vision would simply be a matter of focusing his attention on “seeing” the future. As he looked into the bowl, he would clear his mind of all thoughts and simply let the vision come.

A Matter of Time
When attempting to convey the meaning of a vision experience, a few conceptual problems arise. One of them has to do with our notion of time. In the physical world, we have come to perceive time in a linear fashion. We have an inner sense of how long an hour, a day, or a year should be. Each of us also has a notion of how rapidly the order of events in the world should proceed.
In the higher realms however, time does not move like this. In fact, the higher one goes in the spiritual context, the more time seems to cease entirely. The Hindu teachings, offer an explanation of how this relationship of time, motion, and density works. It is found in what they call the Wheel of Shiva. Perhaps, you have seen a bronze casting of this symbol someplace. It will appear in most Indian craft shops. It is a circle, with points of fire spaced along the outside edges, with the image of Shiva, is inside of the circle, dancing on the base.
If you watch a large wheel as it turns, you will notice, that the center moves much more slowly than the outside circumference. Thus, the center of the circle is the ‘highest’ point of awareness. At this point, there are only ‘thoughts’ of events. These ‘thoughts’, then move outwards to the edges of the circle. As they do, they become more and more dense. Eventually, they play themselves out, in the physical world and then dissipate into the void beyond the circle. The base of the circle, where Shiva is dancing, is where these ‘thoughts’ occur in the present time.
Even though the physical aspect of an event is ‘burned up’ in the present, the thought of it still exists in the circle. Thus, from the center of the wheel, you can see all the parts of its construction - all of time, past, present, and future. But, when you tune into this view of the wheel, there is not always, a frame of reference for what you will see. For instance, a view of something 2000 years in the future would be just as vivid as something that is going to happen tomorrow.

A Future Vision Example
After a period of adjustment with my first real teacher, during which I came to establish a regiment of daily practices designed to help me transcend normal conditioning, I began to receive ‘visions’ about higher wisdom’s and future events. One of these visions was about a future event where I would attend a fire ceremony and initiation which happened about 10 years after receiving the vision.
What I ‘saw’ in this vision was a farm house in a field with some foothills in the background. As I was first seeing it from a distance, there was a small grade up to the house, which was built on a slightly elevated ‘step’. In the windows, I could see many people (angels) wandering around inside of the house. Their bodies were not solid -they were in a translucent spirit form.
In the next scene, I was inside of the house, watching these souls move about. I then saw my teacher as an angel which was somewhat brighter than the rest. I knew that the others in the house had come to learn from him. One thing odd about this scene was, that no one acknowledged my presence, or the presence of anyone else there. This gave me the feeling that while these souls were in this house interacting with each other they did not have the capacity to “see” each other on the spirit level. This was associated with a feeling that they lived in places away from where this house was located. I saw no clues as to when this event was to occur.
Almost 10 years to the day after this vision I entered the drive to this farm house. It was on a slight incline. It was the exact same house I had seen in the vision. However, I had never been to this house before and have never previously met the people who owned it. There were people milling around in the house just like in the vision. I also saw the lack of recognition between these people. It was because they were all on different levels of spiritual ascension. Some were more advanced than others but, few if any of them, could really ‘see’ the essence of the people around them. In other words, they were interacting strictly on an egoic basis.

Some Basics
Active Meditation is based on the fact that in reality there is no way to truly remain actionless and still exist in one form or another in the universe. It is indeed necessary to learn how to quite the body but in a greater sense you will be shifting the action from the body to an awareness of the activities of your inner being. Einstein’s Theory of Relativity aptly applies to the nature of all forms of existence. Time, mass, and motion (velocity) are the qualities required on every plane to facilitate a presence.
In eastern philosophy these principles are expressed in the form of a wheel. According to this tradition, the universe is rotation, as if it was on a potter’s wheel. This would be impossible to determine scientifically, as we do not as yet have the capacity to see the edges of the universe. Nor would there be any references out side of it to measure the amount of the rotational movement. Whether this condition is actual or provable in the physical sense is not really important. However, as you seek to be aware of the universe within yourself, you will become aware of this motion.
The majority of people are caught up in the inertia of the wheel at a point some distance away from its center. Every action we take on all planes of existence is perpetrated by the inescapable momentum of the wheel. Some people are very far out on the edge of the wheel. These people cannot sit still for a moment. They are what some people call the “nervous type.” For those who are making their first attempts at sitting quietly for a sustained period of time, it is the inertial forces in their life which makes it difficult to do this task. So in the beginning it is a process of putting on the breaks and then starting to shift our awareness inwards towards the center of the wheel.
It is a good idea to make this shift gradually. Forcing things too fast would be the equivalent of pushing the brake peddle to the floor in a car going 200 miles per hour. In this situation you are in danger of having the car begin to spin wildly out of control. There are four main attributes of the individual in the body. The physical body itself, the mind, the soul, and the attention. The body is like the car. The soul is supposed to be the driver; the mind is supposed to be the interpreter between the body and the soul. The attention is simply that part of you which is aware. The attention can be focused on specific places at the whims of either the body, the soul or the mind.
The ego is often talked about as the great adversary of the soul, and spiritual awareness. However, it is not really a thing to be dealt with or cured or changed in and of itself. The ego is a function of the motion discussed earlier. It is a result of habits, and conditioning, It is the part of you that generally takes over when you are not thinking about what you are doing. Breathing, sleeping, eating, fear, anger, sex, competition, how you interact with others, most functions of average daily living are normally governed by what has come to be called the ego.
One fallacy sometimes presented in the quest for spiritual realization is the need to become egoless. In lieu of focusing on this very difficult if not impossible task it is best to simply learn to place your attention on the aspects of the soul. In the process of doing this the faults of the ego or ego domination can be corrected. As long as you occupy a body, the ego can never really be eliminated; it only becomes recognized by the mind and the soul. Meditation can be a good tool to bring the body, ego, soul, and spirit into “Harmony.” In Harmony, we can come to recognize our various aspects and the purpose of each as they assist us to function in this universe.
At first this can be a great struggle as that form of the original ego and the mind do not want to easily give into the higher purpose of the soul. The conflicts between each of these parts can often times reflect themselves in the condition of the body. Most illnesses and mental disorders are caused by the misalignment of energy fields in the body which are the result of the improper arrangement of the priorities of the body, soul, and ego.
There is one more important aspect of our being which is on of the keys to making the changes and maintaining a higher state of mind - the Will. It is Will Power which is the primary means that you will need to use when you begin to practice sitting in a posture for a sustained period of time. It is the Will which is then the primary mover of the body the soul and the mind.
Opposing Forces
One question that might arise concerning the concept of Active Meditation is; How can you advocate the idea of sitting quietly, attempting to find your center which would seem to be a state of being inactive and still call this active? There are only two things in the Universe that don’t move, the Infinite and the Observer. But, even these aspects of existence are not actually dormant which would mean that they would not exist at all. Thus, as it says in the Gita, it is not really possible to sit and do nothing, nor should you endeavor to do so for a sustained period because if you were successful at reaching the ultimate goal of doing nothing you would cease to exist.
One of the primary goals of Active Meditation is to simply switch your awareness from the motion of the physical, to that of the motion of the higher forms. When you watch a wheel revolve, you will notice that the speed of the rotation where the tread meets the ground (the physical plane) appears to be much faster than the speed of rotation at the hub of the wheel. Thus, by moving your attention towards the hub you will find that your physical activity will slow down but it is impossible to actually “stop” the motion completely.
As you move closer and closer to the hub of the wheel, you will actually become aware of the sensation that time is slowing down. At the very center of the wheel it seems to come to a complete stop. You may come to be aware of the nature of time as it is relative to the density of matter and spirit. The effect of this situation becomes very apparent when you are in the presence of greater beings like Mary, Jesus or the Father. In the state of ecstasy time appears to come to a complete stop.
To put this phenomenon in the context of physics, based on my own experience, if you slow down the denser motion through meditation chanting or the like, mass becomes less and energy is increased. As this happens you will feel this rise in energy which must be dissipated or used in some way. The use of the energy is what I am calling Active Meditation in that when you reach a certain level of awareness, you can learn to manipulate this higher form of energy.

Light Meditation
In the east, the state of being you need to attain to before you can appreciate the “Wisdom” is called "Harmony". It is a very good term because it does not imply that you "merge" your body, ego, soul, spirit and mind together, but you get all of your parts to resonate together. The most ancient technique of meditation which has been prescribed in the scriptures of the east for this age is designed to assist you to attain to this state of being. I am currently unaware of anyone teaching this technique to the public in its full context. The basics of the technique can be done as a regular part of a daily meditation practice or, just as you are going to sleep or when you wake up in the morning or more preferably all of the above.
As you are sitting or lying down imagine a Light shinning down on your head from heaven flowing through your body and out of your feet. A white light or a sky blue light is preferable. (Sky Blue is Mary's color, it is my personal preference). This Light is the Light from the Spirit and is or will be your eventual connection to divine LOVE. As you imagine this Light streaming through your body, use your Will to reach up through the Light to the “source”. At first, however simply get used to the idea of a Light shining down on you from above. Allow the Light to permeate your body, to fill it, nourish it, and heal it. If you feel any blocks or pains in the body use the light to clear and heal them.
When you have become used to doing this practice begin to attempt to discipline your mind, attention and awareness. Let your mind occupy itself with the Light until it goes blank. Your attention is that part of your awareness that you use to focus on something like when you are reading a book. Make the effort to place your attention in the area of your heart. This should draw the mind there as well. At the same time make the effort to expand your awareness to encompass your body such that you are still aware of the Light flowing through it. This effect is kind of like peripheral vision. If your Will is still focused on the source of the Light then your eyes should move upwards such that they are looking at the third eye in the center of your forehead.
As you are able to picture the Light more clearly you should be able to eventually “feel” the Light. You will become aware of the Light as a form of energy. If your mind is focused on the Heart then you should be aware that the Light will be brighter in this area. The Heart is where your Angel resides. When the Angel is empowered with the Light, it will begin to shine through and around the body from this point.
The ultimate goal is for all of your parts to become the LIGHT. You don't have to worry about ego with this practice because it will become “finer” as the body and the Angel become filled with the Light. If you are successful in this practice you will start to become "Lighter." You will attain the "Harmony" in the Light. In this “Harmony” you will become aware of your Angel and the Spirit. The ego will cease to blind you to these parts of yourself

Active Meditation
The act of meditation is promoted and used in many different ways. Everyone has their own unique goals and capacities which will reflect in what practices appeal to them. Active Meditation may not be suited for the average person. In lieu of simply striving to attain a state of peace and/or relaxation, the disciplines recommended here are designed for the attainment of specific spiritual goals. These goals are primarily related to achieving an awareness of one’s inner being as well as developing the innate qualities associated with the nature of the soul. Ultimately it is abut the single realization of our own being as a part of the divine manifestation of the universe.
To complicate matters you cannot set a specific time frame to accomplish this or that. The character of the individual in the way of mentality, emotions, reason, as well as one’s karmic environment will have a great influence on one’s speed of development. This is not to say that one is doing better than another. There will be no one to judge your performance. It is simply about your own quest into the unknown which will happen when it is suppose to, as it is suppose to.
So the quest should be undertaken as a wondrous adventure into the workings of the universe which is achieved through a journey inwards instead of a journey outwards. And as with any other project it requires perseverance, patience and determination. In a way it is not unlike an athlete in training, or a scholastic endeavor. It is all about self discipline and establishing a regime which will keep you on track.
When a runner establishes a speed to beat in the quarter mile, there is a clear understanding of what needs to be done in order to achieve this goal. Unlike physical pursuits however, the objectives in meditation are not clearly definable, at least in the beginning. In the spiritual realm words do not adequately describe what is to be strived for. It is a new experience. We can imagine it, visualize it and talk about it, but initially you will tend to reference everything to physical experiences. Therefore, there is a certain amount of experimentation and verification involved.
