When a spirit entity is seen in a vision, it is called an apparition. The most widely known apparitions are those of the Mother Mary or Jesus. Although no one else can see it, the visionary will perceive these beings as if they were standing before him or her in the real world. They can hear and speak to the entity in the same manner as they would speak to any individual; at least it feels that way to the visionary.
When watching a visionary communicating with an apparition, you might see their lips move, but the words may not be audible or make any sense. The person receiving the vision is in an altered state. They cannot be shaken from this condition, as you would awaken someone from a deep sleep. Their eyes are open, they appear to be awake but, brain wave analysis shows them to be in a deep sleep dream condition.
All valid visions are usually received in what the eastern teachings call an out-of-body state. In this condition, a soul can elect to stay in the body or leave it. In either case, there is an awareness of the physical body, but all actions and interactions are conducted on the level of the soul. It could be described as a time when heaven and Earth merge. The presence of a powerful entity such as Mary or Jesus can shift the visionary to a higher level. Miraculous circumstances can occur at these times, as the entity is capable of altering physical reality.
In all visions, a tremendous amount of information is relayed in a short period of time. Soul-to-soul communications are like being plugged directly into a mainframe computer. There are no transfer mediums, like words, to interpret; there are no mental evaluations and no ego filtering. In the case of apparitions, the visionary usually retains a complete memory of what has happened. Confusion sets in when the mind attempts to figure out the meaning of the vision.
In lieu of communicating with the divine by means of a vision, some prophets allow an entity to take over their body and speak through it. Edgar Cayce would go into a trance state before giving his readings. He claimed that he was totally unaware of what happened during the session. He may have been away from his physical form while another entity possessed his body. If so, he would not remember what happened.
Perhaps, he did not want to remember the experience because, in some cases, the message was contrary to the more traditional beliefs of the period. He could disassociate himself from conflicting information by claiming that he had no knowledge of what was said. Throughout his life, Cayce had more traditional vision experiences as well. Several times, he saw angels. He also had a number of prophetic dreams. His trances provided a non-threatening means of helping people without becoming a Christ-like figure. All along, the real power was coming from within himself.
The content of a true vision is inherently about healing, or an insight into the nature of divine interactions with the physical world. This is so because visions are inspired by the source of creation. Eastern mystics who have mastered the “vision” experience are known as “seers.” They develop the ability to open the third eye, which is the eye of the soul. The eye is opened when a person ceases to identify with the body and shifts to the awareness of the soul. The ability to manipulate this awareness involves the mastery of the Kundalini.
Children are much more open to the vision experience than adults. They are not anchored by the fear of the unknown in the way adults come to be programmed. Over time, the mind defines a reality that becomes familiar ground. The mind is limited. To get past it to the truth can be difficult. The presence of a teacher in this process can be comforting, but in the end, everyone has their own connection with the ultimate source of existence.
The universe is a function of attractions and repulsions vibrating over an infinite frequency range. Each level of vibration exists in its own timeline. To see the future is a matter of training oneself to “see” what is happening at these different frequencies. This is what mastering the Kundalini all is about. Nostradamus must have been fully conscious during all of his prophetic experiences. He could “see” at these higher frequency levels.
There are a number of stories about his spontaneous predictions. Once, as he was riding in his carriage through the countryside, he had the driver stop at the side of the road. He got out and walked over to a man working in a field. Nostradamus knelt before him and said, “Bless me your eminence.” The field hand later became pope.
Nostradamus was obviously in touch with the “source” every moment. He listened to his intuitions. The summoning a vision would simply be a matter of focusing his attention on “seeing” the future. As he looked into the bowl, he would clear his mind of all thoughts and simply let the vision come.
